QUALITY OF LIFE |
PfCONA
was formed in 1985 by Pflugerville residents who wanted to provide a forum for
neighborhood groups to collectively air their concerns and work with the City Council to
resolve problems.
Its goal was to bring the community together. This goal continues today. Won't you join us
in "building the community together?" |

(7/17/03) Joe McDermott, 400 Residents
Visit Pflugerville's Library -- Popular children's entertainer made a visit July 11 to
the Pflugerville Community, much to the delight of the more than 400 people who turned out
to listen to him sing and tell funny stories. McDermott's program was part of the
library's "Mission Possible: Spy a Book" summer reading program for children.
(5/29/03) 'Spy a Book' at PCL's Summer
Reading Program -- The mission to keep reading skills up to par during the summer
break will be possible for children thanks to the Pflugerville Community Library's summer
reading program, which begins in June. This year's theme, "Mission Possible: Spy a
Book" will allow children of all ages to ready mystery books and more throughout the
summer months. Packed with weekly programs, story times, movies and craft activities, the
PCL's summer schedule will keep children occupied with fun learning activities.
PCL Children's Librarian Yasmeen Jehamgir has organized this year's events and has lined
up an array of entertainers for the Friday afternoon programs. "The summer reading
program officially starts June 2nd with registration, and all the children when they come
and register will get a reading log and a beautiful bookmark," said Jehamgir. Every
Friday at 10:30 a.m. during June and July, children can visit the library to watch and
listen to storytellers, a ventriloquist, a mad scientist and even a mobile dairy--a milk
cow that will visit the city.
Jehamgir said students from Georgetown, Hutto, Manor, Round Rock and Taylor are welcome to
visit the library and register for the "Mission Possible" program. The
Pflugerville Library will show movies every Monday at 2 p.m. and story and craft times are
slated for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Summer reading is not limited
to elementary-aged children, as the PCL will host a teen reading club every Wednesday
afternoon at 3 p.m. Well-known children's entertainer Joe Scruggs is scheduled to appear
in July, sending "Mission Possible" out with a bang before its final day of July
25.
