NETWORKING - INPUT - COOPERATION - SUPPORT - QUALITY OF LIFE

PfCONA was formed in 1985 by Pflugerville residents who wanted to provide a forum for neighborhood groups to collectively air their concerns and work with the City Council to resolve problems.

Its goal was to bring the community together. This goal continues today. Won't you join us in "building the community together?"

TOWN HALL MEETINGS/CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSIONS

Mayor Callen has been holding Town Hall Meetings on various subjects, such as November 2004 meeting at Pflugerville Elementary on "Finding a Niche - Marketing of Pflugerville". August 2004 meeting at library was on "Development Options in Pflugerville".

Mayor Winton invited PfCONA members and their subdivision residents to participate in community workshops offered during 2001 and 2002. In November 2001, citizens helped in a Park Design Workshop and citizens were  asked to support the efforts of the newly formed Pflugerville Beautification Committee. In January 2002, the city held Pflugerville Development Quest series of workshops.

As new developments in the city are planned, residents are being invited to play a role by offering input by attending and/or participating in half-day, all-day, or one-hour council work sessions before council meetings. Know that various learning sessions or speakers often are featured at other organization meetings such as PfCONA and Greater Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce (GPCC).

The following is a list of related activities that have taken place:

  • Council Work Sessions have been offered on the Downtown Master Plan, Capital Metro All Systems Go Long Range Planning Effort, various city committees/commissions, and more.  They take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. before a Tuesday council meeting.

  • Envision Central Texas worked with the City of Pflugerville to plan the future of its downtown neighborhood. Planning well for the future means being part of the process, and Envision Central Texas included 71 residents' ideas about how the local community could be improved. Envision Central Texas came to Park Crest Middle School on March 4 to discuss Pflugerville's future and have individuals participate in a hands-on planning workshop. • The City of Pflugerville held its first Pflugerville Development Quest, (PDQ) series, January 14th at City Hall, the first of five monthly sessions designed to provide an opportunity for Pflugerville citizens and City boards, commissions, and neighborhood associations to participate in learning about the factors that shape Pflugerville's growth.

*Videotapes will also be available at the Pflugerville Public Library, 102 Tenth Street, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A summary of the videotapes will be shown on Cox Channel 10 during July/August 2003. See Cox Channel 10 for listing of schedule.

  • Various groups in Austin recently sponsored a Communities in Concert for a Better Tomorrow conference in October 2002 and the planning committee is holding quarterly meetings to promote action as a result. Hutto, Cedar Park, Round Rock, and Pflugerville residents attended this event and Louise Everett, with PfCONA is inviting anyone to participate in this group or see videotapes of the conference may call her at 990-8230.
